Rachael Barrett

Rachael Barrett became the Women’s Refugee Commission deputy director, foundation and government relations, in August 2011. She manages the organization’s foundation, corporate and government programmatic funding portfolio. From 2009 to 2010, she was senior development officer at the Women's Refugee Commission.

Rachael has a 20-year track record of success as a development professional in the nonprofit sector. In addition to institutional fundraising, she has experience in managing special events, strategic planning, fundraising planning and measurement, and using social media.

She comes to the Women's Refugee Commission from the Bronx Defenders, a 14-year-old public defender office, where she served as director of development. Before that she served as the director of development at Greenhope Services for Women.

Rachael is a member of the American Association of Grant Professionals, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Women in Development and the American Prospect Research Association. She serves on the board of directors of two nonprofits, PROOF: Media for Social Justice and Good Shepherd Volunteers.

Rachael has a B.S. in Mass Communications from Emerson College and an MBA from the University of West Haven. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband.
