
A safe work environment for many women provides a safe environment for their children. After acquiring a sewing machine on loan, Marta, a Colombian refugee in Ecuador, began a small business sewing curtains from the safety of her home. While she works, her two daughters play nearby.

In Timor-Leste, the organization Plan continues to support women who have been internally displaced after they complete the vocational training program and gain employment in the capital, Dili. The income they earn is used to support their families and goes towards buying school supplies.
