    Carrie Welch is Chief External Relations Officer at the New York Public Library. She develops the Library's outreach strategy, overseeing the Development and Communications & Marketing groups, as well as all of NYPL's public programs.

    Prior to her appointment at the New York Public Library, Carrie was Senior Vice President for External Relations at the International Rescue Committee. While at the IRC, she transformed IRC's funding model, increasing annual revenue by about 200 percent. She also vastly grew the audience for IRC's work and built a leading and innovative digital presence.

    Prior to the IRC, Welch served as the first Executive Vice President of Global Communications at Lowe and Partners, in charge of internal and external relations. She had a long career at Time Inc. prior to Lowe where she worked in senior positions on both the editorial and publishing sides of various titles, and ran communications operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and then Asia. As VP for Communications at FORTUNE and then for all Time Inc.'s business properties, she helped launch CNNMoney.com and co-chaired FORTUNE's Most Powerful Women Summit.
