    The Women's Refugee Commission advocates for laws, policies and programs to improve the lives and protect the rights of refugee and internally displaced women, children and young people—bringing about lasting, measurable change.

    The Women's Refugee Commission is affiliated with and is legally part of the International Rescue Committee, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It does not receive direct financial support from the IRC.

    The intern will play a key role in supporting the Women's Refugee Commission’s communications department and its efforts to electronically archive its large photo collection and integrate it within the IRC’s existing electronic library. The internship is an opportunity to work closely with communications staff, develop strategic communications and archiving skills and be involved in organizational work related to refugee issues.


    • Organize and sort large collection of photos.
    • Use aesthetic sense to assess which photos should be archived.
    • Tag photographs in library according to subject, location, date and photographer.
    • Work closely with communications team and IRC counterparts.


    • Student with communications, photography, design or historical archiving background or interest.
    • Excellent research, data collection and analysis skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Must be willing to do administrative tasks.
