    Program Assistant - Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights (GCENR)

    The Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights Program Assistant will support the Campaign Manager in coalition member engagement, communications, outreach, administrative support, and research to inform advocacy for gender-equal nationality laws. The position is a fourteen hour per week, part-time position.


    The Women’s Refugee Commission (WRC) works to improve the lives and defend the rights of refugee and internally displaced women, children, and young people. As an advocacy organization, the Commission is dedicated to bringing about systemic changes that lead to greater respect for the rights of uprooted women, children, and young people. The organization strives to effect policy and programmatic change with broad, worldwide impact.

    Housed at WRC, the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights works to end gender discrimination in nationality laws, through its coalition of national and international NGOs, activists, and allied UN agencies.


    Coalition Engagement

    • Liaise with regional focal points in the Middle East and Asia to document relevant developments
    • Support the monitoring and evaluation of Campaign activities

    Communications & Outreach:

    • Coordinate the Campaign’s triannual eNewsletter
    • Draft eNewsletter and website articles
    • Support social media engagement/outputs
    • Manage and build the Campaign’s listserv
    • Support the dissemination of Campaign resources


    • Monitor relevant developments in Campaign target countries
    • Conduct desk research on target countries, as needed, to inform the drafting of the Campaign’s submission to UN human rights treaty bodies
    • Administrative Support:
    • Provide logistical support for Campaign activities, such as flight bookings and organizational forms


    1. Undergraduate degree, preferably in international studies, gender studies, political science, non-profit management or related field. Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
    2. Knowledge of and passion for gender equality, international affairs, and human rights. Work or volunteer experience related to these topics is desirable.
    3. Strong writing, communications skills, and cultural sensitivity.
    4. Familiarity with and skillful use of social media.
    5. An independent worker and self-starter, who is able to advance tasks with limited oversight.
    6. Strong organizational skills and the ability to be flexible.
    7. Good computer skills: facility with MS Word, Excel, and research search engines.
    8. Candidates with Arabic skills are especially encouraged to apply.
    9. Must have authorization to work in the United States
      • This is a part-time position with a max of 14 hours per week.
