Disability & Children and Adolescents

Children and adolescents with disabilities are frequently hidden in communities, overlooked by humanitarian programs, and excluded from school and other opportunities. Adolescents with disabilities, particularly those with intellectual disabilities, are often excluded from peer networks that might protect them as well as activities that increase their knowledge about violence, sex, and healthy relationships. Although we know that young people with disabilities have much to contribute to programming, but are rarely invited to contribute their insights, knowledge, skills and capacities.

The WRC has developed tools and resources to support humanitarian practitioners to include children and young people with disabilities in their activities.
