Gender Discriminatory Nationality Laws and the Principle of Gender-Equal Citizenship

WRC associate director Catherine Harrington, who manages the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights, was invited by UN Women to write an expert paper for the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 70). Her paper, “Gender Discriminatory Nationality Laws and the Principle of Gender-Equal Citizenship,” argues that despite progress in advancing gender equality in law, gender discrimination in nationality laws (GDNL) remains a critical area for reform and an important entry point for advancing gender-equal citizenship more broadly.
