Mori Taheripour teaches Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She has served on the faculty of the Legal Studies and Business Ethics Department for over fifteen years and is a six-time recipient of awards for excellence in teaching. She is a co-founder of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative (WSBI), a resource for business leaders, faculty, and students that generates research and provides industry insight through educational programs, consulting assignments, and global forums.
A globally recognized executive, Mori leverages her expertise in negotiation, diversity, and inclusion (D&I), and sports business for Fortune 100 companies, major sports leagues, foundations, and professional associations. Current and past clients include The Goldman Sachs Foundation, National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), National Football League (NFL), United Parcel Service (UPS), Wasserman, and Wells Fargo.
Mori’s extensive experience in sports business includes athlete education and development and leading initiatives at the intersection of sport and social change. She has worked with athletes at every level, from high school to the pros, designing and delivering curricula that supports their success both on and off the field and their transition out of sport. In 2010, Mori was appointed the first-ever Senior Advisor for Sport for Development at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She served for four years as the senior U.S. Government Representative tasked with promoting sport as a unique and powerful tool in the advancement of the nation’s international development policy.
A steadfast advocate for equity and inclusion, Mori’s D&I experience spans more than twenty years across a range of disciplines including marketing and communications, talent pipeline development, training and education, and strategic partnerships for a client list that includes Centers for Disease Control (CDC), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health, The Timberland Company, Major League Baseball (MLB), and the NFL. Additionally, Mori joined the leadership ranks of the American Red Cross as the Vice President of Corporate Diversity after Hurricane Katrina. During her tenure, she led efforts to design and implement an organization-wide D&I strategy that ensured personnel, programs, and policies reflected the communities in which it operated.
Mori serves on the Board of Trustees of the Women’s Sports Foundation and is a founding Advisory Board Member of the Sports Leadership & Administration Undergraduate Degree Program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is a contributor to sports discussions on Wharton Business Daily on SiriusXM and was featured in ESPN’s “30 for 30” documentary, Broke.
Mori earned her MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University. Her first book, Bring Yourself: How to Harness the Power of Connection to Negotiate Fearlessly was published in March 2020.
