CEOs Urge Biden to Abide by Title 42 Federal Court Decision and Reject Congressional Attempts to Codify the Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following a federal court rejection of using Title 42 to expel migrants and people seeking asylum at the U.S. border with Mexico, nearly 100 leaders from human rights and other organizations today wrote to President Joe Biden, including the Women’s Refugee Commission’s Executive Director Sarah Costa.

The group, led by the Women’s Refugee Commission, National Immigration Law Center, Human Rights First, and National Immigrant Justice Center, urged the administration to abide by the recent federal court decision to end Title 42 mass expulsions; reject congressional attempts to codify Title 42; and not replace Title 42 with mass detention or other harmful border policies.
