Politico’s Playbook featured a joint letter from the Women’s Refugee Commission and 187 other immigrant rights organizations urging Congress not to make changes to the asylum system and humanitarian parole authority in negotiations over the foreign aid supplemental funding bill.
Calling such moves “cruel, ineffective and radical,” the groups including WRC warn that the changes reportedly under consideration would only worsen the situation at the border— instead WRC and the groups said in the letter that they advocate for more funding to improve processing and slash backlogs.
