WRC’s Comment on Proposed Rulemaking on Procedures for Credible Fear Screening and Consideration of Asylum, Withholding of Removal, and CAT Protection Claims by Asylum Officers
PublishedThe Women’s Refugee Commission submitted a comment in response to the joint notice of proposed rulemaking issued by the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice on August 20, 2021. WRC urges the Departments to significantly clarify or withdraw the Proposed Rule to ensure that people seeking protection receive due process and have their cases adjudicated outside of government custody.
