Adolescent Girls

For over 35 years, WRC has successfully advanced evidence-based solutions that support adolescents and young people in humanitarian settings. WRC paved the way for organizations working to improve education opportunities for adolescent girls in emergencies and was the first to conduct research on the unique sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents in humanitarian settings. Through innovative research and programming, our recommendations to government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and local service providers help move displaced adolescents and young people to the center of decision-making.

Despite immense progress, the needs and priorities of adolescents and youth are still often overlooked in humanitarian response. And when programs and services do exist, they often take a one-size-fits-all approach focusing on deficits, risks, or narrowly defined priorities. WRC’s vision is a humanitarian system where adolescent-responsive programming is the norm.  By expanding our proven approaches, we aim to reach thousands more adolescents and young people across crisis-affected regions.
