    Jennifer Schlecht, Senior Advisor for Sexual and Reproductive Health, joined the Women's Refugee Commission in 2011. She currently leads the WRC's work on child marriage and disaster risk reduction. Since joining the WRC, she has overseen research efforts focusing on adolescent health issues among crisis-affected populations from Syria, Somalia, northern Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Myanmar (Burma). She has also modeled training approaches at the community level in the Philippines, aiming to improve community preparedness and response to reproductive health needs in emergencies. Jennifer is also is highly involved in broader advocacy efforts focused on delivery of voluntary contraception in emergencies.

    Prior to joining the WRC, Jennifer worked internationally with the Reproductive Health Access, Information and Services in Emergencies (RAISE) initiative at Columbia University, as well as with UMATI/ Tanzania, EngenderHealth/ Tanzania, Church World Service/ Kenya and PeaceCorps/ Namibia. Additionally, Jennifer has worked on health and mental health programming domestically-- most recently serving as the Director of HIV Supportive Services at Harlem Hospital's Family Care Center.

    Jennifer earned her Master’s degree in Public Health and Social Work from Columbia University. She was honored as a Compton’s Fellow during her graduate studies in public health, was a University of Michigan Population Fellow and is a licensed mental health provider.
